It's been a while hasn't it? About a year and a half? Man have things changed since I last blogged.
For one, I've graduated. That's right, lil ol' "Kimzy" graduated from high school and has entered into college. I'm studying Pure and Applied Science, and it's been an uphill battle (an incredibly steep uphill battle, but an uphill battle no less), but the semester's almost over so I have the winter break to look forward to. Besides my science courses, which are fine at best, I'm really loving my english, humanities and web design classes, so that's been great.
I started making videos, which you can find on my youtube channel here. It's been an incredibly satisfying hobby, although not one that I do often. Simply put, videos require a lot of focus and planning and I don't have the time to dedicate to it like I did at the end of sec five. With schoolwork and actual work, I hardly have time for a social life, much less for video making. I like doing it though, because it's a really gratifying pass time. I'm behind every aspect of my videos, be it filming, scripting, editing, everything. My main accessory in those few months was my video camera. I filmed big projects for school, a math rap, my entire 12 day trip to Europe and many other stupid moments with my friends. I like editing best though, since I get to see the final product come together and have final say on how everything looks. Seeing the Europe video come along was honestly one of the most amazing things I'd ever done (which may explain why it took me 6 months to edit).
That last bit reminds me that I also went to Europe since the last blog. I went to the UK with my graduating class for 12 days and though I didn't meet the queen, it was a fantastic trip. Anything I say here won't do it justice, but if you want to watch the trip (in agonizing, 20 minute detail) you can click here.
I (finally) got a job. That's a thing that happened a few weeks ago. Anyone who knows me knows I've been job hunting for months, so it's nice to finally be able to say that I'm employed again. It's part time, since I'm still in school, but I really like it. I'm finally working in retail so it's a lot more face-paced and involves much more customer interaction then I was used to: I have to reach a sales goal every day, which is new for me, and I'm not doing super well on that front yet, but it can only get better from here right?
I took up ukulele back in June finally. Cameron "Smooth McGroove" Guitar Junior has quickly become a part of the family, and the sound of his strings being plucked resonates through the house on the daily. I play ukulele so often that it's begun to annoy dad. I've learnt quite a few songs at this point, "One For The Road" by Dodie Clark, "Riptide", "The Judge" and the chorus to "Here Comes the Sun" being some of my current favourite songs to play. I even wrote a song, titled "You Should Hire Me", a song to potential employers, because, as previously mentioned, job hunting had taken up a lot of my mind space.
My next "project" of sorts is getting into ACLE. It's a program that has people go to Italy to teach English to kids at summer camps and I really want to be a part of it. Gabriela's older sister, Alessia has been a part of it for a few years now and she loved it, and it's something I'm highly interested in. I need to make a video application, relatively soon actually, and have to pass an interview system, but hopefully it works out in my favour. Fingers crossed!
With that I guess all that's left to say is how things are right now, since chances are I'll forget about this blog again for a while. Who knows, maybe the next time I'll read this I'll be in my 20s. So right now, I'm happy. I have friends that I like and I'm never bored. I've been with Matthew for two and a half years (he's turning 18 this week!), I've started a new level of education and I have a job I like. I've had Justin Bieber's new album on repeat because it's fantastic (notable favourites are Love Yourself and What Do You Mean-Accoustic), I've bought myself a laptop, I paint on my walls when I have time to make them more interesting and I've watched the entirety of Friends 4 times. I go on monthly lunch dates with Vanessa to a sushi shop near school that we found, I add wizard accessories to friends on snapchat and put them up on my story, I'm a huge Dodie Clark and Evan Edinger fan and I share a room with Nam.
Like I said, everything's been pretty great lately. And I might be stressed or "anxious" like I said last post, but overall, I'm happy. Very happy.
Until next time,
Kim
